The Malmö Association of Foreign Affairs (UF Malmö, Utrikespolitiska Föreningen i Malmö in Swedish) is a politically and religiously independent non-profit association led by students for students. We provide ca. 50 events per year, with weekly lectures, workshops and other events related to international politics and global awareness with a particular focus on:
- Current international affairs within the realm of politics
- Different countries and their respective culture, language, religion, economy, political and legal systems
- Development-related, humanitarian and human rights issues
- Intergovernmental and Non-Governmental Organisations
- Swedish foreign policy
We organise academic field trips and travels abroad—previous trips have been to Istanbul, Tbilisi, Jordan and Berlin—for our members twice a year, host a variety of social activities, publish an online magazine, the Pike & Hurricane, release podcast episodes (on Spotify, Soundcloud and Stitcher), and hosts an annual MUN conference, MUNmö. Find more information about our events here and pictures here. UF Malmö is a registered non-governmental organisation, and its activities are financed through institutional foundations and membership fees.
We aim to create an environment where members can develop both intellectually and socially. We promote mutual understanding and respect between nations and people. Our operations are based on the principle of human dignity and equality of all human beings, as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights.
UF Malmö is a member of the Swedish Association of International Affairs, or SAIA (Utrikespolitiska Förbundet Sverige in Swedish—UFS), which is the national umbrella organisation of all thirteen associations of Foreign Affairs in Sweden. UF Malmö also works under the local student union, Studentkåren Malmö, and is the largest and most active association at Malmö University.
